+268 If Harry was neglected, starved and abused for 11 years, he would not be so ok around people as he is in the series. He should have some serious issues which are not portrayed in the books. amirite?

Well, he is angry quite a lot and lashes out at the people he cares about most...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not to mention that he has sort of a "hero complex" where he has this emotional need to save everybody

He doesn't exactly have the time to mope around being depressed. Lord Voldemort's kinda trying to kill him and all...

He also was still a child, eager to meet decent human beings and excited to be in a place where people he had never known before acted friendly toward, where he was for the most part safe, and where he could get three complete meals every single day.

Maybe, except for the fact that he isn't a pussy.

Yeah well Harry was a wizard so fuck you he can act how he wants

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's called a children's book. They don't talk about that stuff.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, poor Harry. He thinks he is a wizard or something.

Someone should make a fanfic of that. Where it turns out Hogwarts is all in his imagination and he just has serious mental issues.

I posted something similar actually- http://amirite.net/581709 If you ever look up the effects of child neglect, you can see that he was pretty much a miracle case for not having any of these problems. The one year he spent with his parents probably saved him from having too much reactive-attachment, but still! He's never had any relationships before, how can he make them so easily?

I wouldn't say he makes relationships easily, he has like two friends, and one of them is a ginger so it doesn't count. But I agree with the rest.
