+322 It would be interesting to raise a boy around no girls for his whole life, then when he's 19 or something (after puberty), introduce him to a girl. Would he still be turned on by her boobs, or just think she looked really freaky? amirite?

Depends on a lot of factors. Like, by no girls, does that include his mother? Not having a mother, and not being told that one ever existed could have a severe impact on any child. And by "raise him" are you raising him normally (well, as normal as this horrific experiment could be) - that is, teaching him manners, teaching him to be polite, not to sexually touch others (which would be men, and assuming the boy is hetero)? What about pets? Like, if he's raised with dogs and cows and other animals, then he'll know how not to touch or approach them. And, if he meets a woman, would he consider her something like an animal, or would he recognise her as being the same species as him?

And what about when he starts asking questions? You're essentially cutting off half his exposure to the world - how can you educate someone on anything without mentioning females? Almost everything -- science, literature, religion, mentions women. What about if he asks questions about where he came from? And, you'd have to cut him off from the outside world so much. If you're locking him away, that would probably damage him more than not being around females. If you're raising him on a farm, you'd need to have female animals, like cows and chickens, to provide some food, like milk and eggs - he's gonna start wondering why there are two types of bovine (cow/bull) and fowl (chicken/rooster) that are needed for reproduction, yet only one type of human (man).

This happened in 'the left hand of god'.... It was a pretty good book. That's not what the story's about, though

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you said 'his whole life' yet you then said at age 19.... i hope thats not someone's life span

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, you obviously have to kill him after that. Duh.

Finding certain traits in women attractive like large breasts naturally develop within the man and is not due to exposure to them. Even though he would have never seen them, he would still be attracted to them assuming he is heterosexual. However, he would probably be very confused as to why he is having such feelings or even as to what the feelings even mean considering hes never experienced anything like it.

I reckon it would be interesting - is attractive to women's breasts purely a natural instinct, or is it more a cultural construct?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd say it's natural instinct, because healthy breasts usually translate to healthy milk for potential offspring... In the same manner that big muscles on guys mean good amounts of testosterone which in turn equals healthy sperm, etc. That's just my theory though, haha

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, that's very true. Just like how men are attracted to women's curves - bigger hips means bigger, healthier offspring.

What about if he was told about girls and stuff, he just never saw one (because it says he wasn't raised around them, not that he didn't know/wasn't told that they existed)?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, I didn't notice that. And, yeah, that would raise a point - but would knowing that women existed, and that he once had a mother, but can't be around them also effect him?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That is a good question... hmmm
