+426 People shouldn't say "fight fire with fire" because Ive never ever seen a firefighter go into a burning building with a flame thrower... amirite?

Actually, one tactic to fighting a forest fire is to light another fire so they collide and burn each other out

I fight zombies with fire!

I thought the saying was "you can't fight fire with fire."

They say "DON'T fight fire with fire (because all you get is a bigger fire)". This is advice against revenge and whatnot, like if someone hit you hitting them back would be fighting fire with fire.

I thought it was Don't fight fire with fire, you'll just get burned. Yours works too though :)

haha, this reminds me of that episode of that '70s show when kelso set fire to the police academy and then he shot another flare at it to put out the first fire, because you "fight fire with fire." then he had to do a third one to let everyone know about the fire.

But the entire quote is if you fight fire with fire, you all get burned. Or something of that sort. So that's why the firefighter would not want to go in with a flamethrower. Because everything would get more burnt.

But what if you fight toasters with other toasters? Like a toaster-fighting ring? Somewhere Real Dizzy is turning in her grave.

Actually, you can fight fire with fire; the idea is to burn a sort of perimeter around the fire you're trying to prevent while using small, controlled fires, so that it can't expand past that point. AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE!
