Because little kids feel grown up when they watch shows with teenagers. I know i did. When i was seven, i watched Degrassi one time then asked my mom if I could skip grades 3-8. Haha.

the old disney movies were about teenagers too, The little mermaid, Snow white, Sleeping beauty and Cinderella they were all 16 years old. The difference is that when Walt Disney died, he took Disney with him and now it sucks.

Well, The Little Mermaid was made after Disney's death. The company has gone up and down in its success, like any other company. I would say some of my favorite Disney movies were created during the Disney Renaissance period, in the 1990s, when The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid were created, all 30 odd years after Walt Disney's death. And with the recent success of Tangled, and The Princess and the Frog, we might be experiencing another comeback. These movies about high school are linked to the success of Disney Channel, and are purely a way to make money.

When I was younger, I liked watching movies about high schoolers. They always seemed much more mature, and their lives were way cooler. Also, I know people are going to want to reply with "GAHH DEMI LOVATO IS THE WORST ACTRESS EVER," but getting older actresses (16 years old) will produce much better acting than 10 year old actresses. With some exceptions, of course. Notably, Abigail Breslin and Chloe Moretz.
