+557 What do witches and wizards do before they go to Hogwarts? Do they just sit at home for 10 years, and never learn their ABC's or times tables? Or do they go to muggle school then mysteriously drop out, and go missing for the whole years, then when they return for the summer they have a new pet owl, and a strange looking twig, amirite?

According to the Harry Potter wiki, Mrs. Weasley taught her children basic things like math and English before they went to Hogwarts.

but what about all the other wizarding parents?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I would say that other families did the same, besides muggleborns. They would probably just say something like how they went to a bording school.

@1192128 (Anonymous): Ohmygosh, don't remind me. Fred and George made fun of me because I did my Rs backwards. I thought it looked cool!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

J.K Rowling has said that they're homeschooled by their parents.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So that means there's gotta be some wizard kids whose parents didn't give a fuck, and they can't read or write or do basic addition.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When they get to Hogwarts, is there only magic based classes? Do they offer math classes or sciences? Thats always confused me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

well they do offer arithmacy...i always thought it was math like arithmatic, i could be wrong though.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, Herbology = Biology, Potions = Chemistry, Arithmancy = Math, Astronomy = Astronomy, History of Magic = History. They're all magic-based, but they're essentially the same subject.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Astronomy = Astronomy? I would never imagine

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I figure that in more prominent wizarding towns they would organize a sort of very small primary school.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wasn't there a class to learn about Muggles? Which Hermione attended for easy score?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, there was muggle studies

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Looks like we're going to have to go around obliviating people again, can't those bloody muggles just keep their damn thoughts to themselves?!?!?!?!?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

oh no its okay. i am a fellow hogwarts student myself.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

@1194853 (DeAnnasaurusRex): Posers.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

:O what! Dean! I am sooo telling Harry! >:B I am not a poser!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hmmm...well, I've never seen you around Hogwarts before. I'm not sure I believe you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well I'm just a third year Slytherin. You yourself, Miss Potter, must be in Gryffindor. And Dean, didn't you graduate like 19 years ago?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

...Shhh....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh it's fine. I've said this dozens of times in front of muggles. They just think I'm joking. Those muggles would go to great lengths to think of an explanation within their realm of possibility.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm muggle-born, so I did think like that for awhile. And I meant for you to be quiet about the whole me having graduated thing...I like stalking Hogwarts students. But don't tell anyone.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh but of course. Hey did you stalk that Scorpius kid? I like most of my Slytherin companions but he makes me feel like a troll just walked by. I just cannot stand him.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nah, I prefer to stalk my fellow Gryffindors. I haven't liked what i have seen of him though. Carrying on the Draco bloodline, I guess.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Carrying on the Draco bloodline, he is. Probably a bit of Blast-Ended Skrewt mixed in there too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

why I'm actually in Huffelpuff thank you very much! and yeah Dean aren't you like 50?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Miss Potter, you are in Hufflepuff? What year?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I always wondered if they went to college. The thing is, they don't know any middle school or highschool programs. So do they have wizard college? Or summer schools between terms?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They've gotta have some type of wizard college, for being a Healer or something - or maybe after they leave school, they become an "apprentice" in the career they want.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I guess that makes sense. But what if you want to take a career in the Muggle arts?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well you have to go through extra training for a highly professional job.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

After Hogwarts, they can do extra schooling I think. When Harry wanted to become an Auror, he had to study for several more years at the Auror training(that's what McGonagall said to him)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Also - what if they don't want to have a wizard career? What if there's a couple kids that want Muggle careers? Unlikely, I know, since being a wizard would be a fuckton cooler, but there's gotta be some kids who would rather be a Muggle lawyer or something.

BLOGGING HARRY POTTER!!!!! woot! Dan rocks!!!!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They either went to muggle schools or were homeschooled. I liked the post but about the last part, if you were a witch or wizard would you go around flailing your wand when you know youre not supposed to?
