+435 It's annoying when people talk to 7-8 year olds in the same manner they would use to talk to a 2 year old. When you were that age, that pissed you off, amirite?

It's annoying and unnecessary for people to talk like that to anyone of any age. Just because you're around a baby doesn't mean you have to talk like a retard.

I read somewhere that using baby talk is bad, the kid will continue to use it longer because if they're learning how to talk and you don't talk properly they won't either. And especially at like 7. Really? I mean I know people aren't like "look at the wittle dawgy. do you know you wound it makes?" with high pitched-ish voice and replacing a couple continents with's. But I have a lot (A LOT) of cousins, and one of my aunts (whos responsible for most of them) oversimplifies everything but at the same time goes into stuipid details the kid could have figured out theirself.

It's also annoying when people let them get away with stuff that a two-year-old could get away with. It's not necessarily "cute" anymore when they do stuff like ( bad example) write on walls.

its even more annoying when you're 12 and they're still doing, glad i'm out of that age.

I actually talk to my two year old sister the same way I would everyone else. Baby talk seems condescending to me, no matter how old a person is.

People come up to me on the street and baby talk my service dog. I ask them if there's something I can help them with 'cause I'm seventeen and have a very short fuse.

My cousins (who are much older than me) treat me like a 9 year old. I'm 15.

I'm in the same exact situation. Last year when I was turning 14, one of my cousins legitimately thought I was turning 9. And I see her like twice a month so we're definitely not unfamiliar with each other. I also get treated like a nine year old with my other cousins; I was born in America and they were not, yet they constantly neglect me when I tell them that something they said has bad grammar. But, if they're told by anyone else who's around the same age as them, they listen and act properly and say things like "Oh, thanks for letting me know, I'll work on that so I don't look like a fool when I'm talking in public. Can you tell me how that works so I can remember it?"

Its a suckish feeling. It truly is. It's degrading, almost. Like they don't think you're old enough to be treated like an adult. I suppose it doesn't help to have an eleven year old sister who acts like an 8 year old.

My brother who is nearly twelve was asked by a receptionist at the doctors office if he knew his address. She then proceeded to ask if he could spell his name. ono He's a little small but really, his vocabulary and just the way he holds himself should imply he's older than four or five.

Yesterday I went to the movies with my grandma and we left early because it showed some girl getting raped. Then she asked me if I know about sex. I'm sixteen.
