+382 You also wonder what the hell happened to the mermaid and missionary in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

obviously they went to her cave underwater and lived happily ever after ;)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i thought maybe they symbolically went to Heaven or something...did she save him though??

by Anonymous 12 years ago

well how do we know she didn't just eat him..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My teen daughter explained to me that she killed him because the water gets dark when they enter the tunnel ... meaning blood. I don't think she killed him though because she had feelings for him ... they'll be back in the next PotC sequel.

and ithink she turned him into a merman but noone thinks they exist cuz they arent atracted to sailors cuz they got mermaids

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Duh- the little minx charmed him, dragged him underwater, had crazy mermaid sex with him and then ate him. Mermaids dont change their ways.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

she probably just tricked him that she was in love with him and then ate him, other wise she must have been really hungry to eat someone she loved.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

dont you know murmaids are vegetarians, dah

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought she killed him. Towards the beginning they said the mermaid will trick you into falling in love with her, then drag you to the bottom of the sea. I could be wrong though, since they made it clear that she was "different".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Didn't the movie say something about a mermaids kiss could do something to you.. (I can't remember what) Because, the first singing mermaid didn't kiss the guy, she just took him close to the water and attempted to eat him. Serena actually kissed him. So maybe she changed him?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I remember towards the middle of the movie one of the pirates said that a mermaid's kiss could save a sailor's life, and she kissed the guy, so I'm guessing he was okay when she dragged him down.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They were the best part of the movie :) I hope she healed him with her kiss like ^^ said and didn't kill him.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

She made him ~part of her world~.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

this made my day

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i second that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It looked like she was carrying him away. Not dragging him down to eat him. I think they swam back to the ocean and will show up in a sequel somehow.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

One of the pirates said that a mermaid's kiss would render a man unable to drown. Syrena kissed him, so I think it's supposed to be implied that she gave him some sort of a ability to survive under the water so that they could be together.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hopefully there'll be another sequel that it's explained in.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah the mermaid kiss saved him from drowning.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

the guy was Christian, and Christians are invincible, thats why he didnt die when he got his neck slit, plus he probably went to the bottom of the ocean and went to china XD

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because who needs logic?

by Anonymous 9 years ago

YAA, why didnt he die when they like cut his neck??

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When the missionary woke up he pulled one of those poison darts out of his chest if I remember correctly, so I'm assuming he didn't actually slit his throat but only pretended to and stabbed him with the dart when he did it so that he would fall down from the poison and appear to be dead. After he woke up it looked like the slash was actually on his upper chest region rather than his neck. Blackbeard was trying to get a tear of sorrow out of the mermaid by making her think he killed the missionary, but was also counting on the fact that if that didn't work the missionary would come back to the mermaid after waking up and he could get a tear of joy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i saw the movie with my friend and she thought he was really hot so she screamed when she dragged him down but i told her that when she kissed him he could breathe underwater so he might show up in the next potc

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought she drowned him, and then kissed him. In the beginning of the first mermaid scene, they say that a mermaid's kiss would save you from drowning

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think the kiss really was something that gives the man the ability to breathe under water because did you notice how when that other sailor tried to kiss the first mermaid she "almost" let him but then drew away obviously to lure him nearer, and not for love if you catch my drift ! This tells me that th missionary was kissed to be healed and breathe underwater and so they could be together. Even if she couldn't make him breathe underwater she probably took him to a special underwater place where he could stay.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

that mermaid girl was seriously really hot. in a good way. like damn she fine. no. but real talk, she was beautiful. oh yea she's my girlfriend.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i agree completely

by Anonymous 12 years ago

your beautiful

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If you watch at the begining of the movie, they bring a guy up-- holding a bible - and he was able to "live under water". That is the "future"-- the movie is the guy telling his story of what happened and meeting the mermaid. If you look at the priest-- his bible is EXACTLY the same as the old man at the beginning of the film, so he lived with her- until either she died or he got "netted".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually, if you noticed, what he was holding was a journal of his journey with Ponce De Leon. Finding this old man is what started the Spanish on the hunt for the fountain to destroy it, since of course they can find it now with the help of the joiurnal. Odds are, the man had a mermaid fall in love with him, too, but thats as far as similarities go. Plus, the eye color was all wrong. Phillip has green eyes, not blue.

by Anonymous 9 years ago

Awesome... I hope they come up in the new one because there is only three people (plus a monkey) that actually stay throughout all of them and i need some more old faces!!! Gah! that pissed me off because Orlando bloom is fricken Gorgeous!!!!! oh well, so was the missionary :)

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The first time I watched this movie with the part with the mermaid in it I was totally baffled about what happened the the mermaid and the sailor, and after reading your comments it got me thinking but in my opinion I believe she did love him and kissed him so they could be together i was a little confused of the part when they went to far out that you couldn't see them but that could of been te time of the sailors transformation between human and merman I'm sorry if this comment was to long :P

Will turner might be back

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How do you know? Will and Elizabeth had a kid, and I think On Stranger Tides was just a way to connect the boy with whatever happens next lol. I feel like the mermaid and the missionary will reappear with will and wills son
