+343 Glee is basically a never-ending series of High School Musical. Amirite?

I literally just said that last night when my friend was watching Glee.

Great minds think alike? :)

Glee > HSM Just saying.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

HSM they sing at random times. Glee sings at times that are perfectly normal.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not always.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Never. Haha! They could be cleaning and suddenly burst our singing, that's not "normal", that's scary.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually yes, they do sing at normal times. Most of the time they do. I was just saying that they don't always do that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I really don't see it... There are SO many differences. I mean, they both take place in high school and involve singing but 1.HSM uses all original songs 2.Glee isn't the most kid friendly thing 3.Not all glee characters are sterotypes And that's just the beginning.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

EVERY glee character is a stereotype!! Name one that isn't I dare you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Blaine isn't the stereotypical gay kid.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

He's the stereotypical private school kid

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Brittany isn't your stereotypical cheerleader. And Artie isn't a stereotypical...invalid, I guess...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Umm dumb blonde cheerleader and wheelchair kid. There are story lines revolving around him being in a wheelchair. And in the first season he could have been counted as a nerd but now he's a football player and not so much a nerd anymore.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Most stereotypical private school kids are gay and serenade to people in the Gap?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well no but besides that. In kinda disregarding the singing considering it's a show about singing and if they didn't sing there wouldn't be a show. But not all of the warblers are gay. That's just a character trait of Blaine. Outside of the stereotype completely. By he's dapper and very stereotypically private school besides the parts outside the stereotype such a him being gay and singing because the show centers around GLEE CLUBS. That SING. not all aspects of their personalities are a single stereotype.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So him being "dapper" is pretty much all you've said about him being that stereotype. I would hardly say one characteristic makes someone "very stereotypically private school". I read sometimes, that doesn't automatically make me fit the stereotype of a nerd.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Dapper is pretty much the only word to describe a private school kid. He has short gelled hair, good posture, and is very polite. All of the warblers are very stiff and formal. They decide things with debates and a gavel and say things like "you mock us sir" they are also formal in everythig they do including their dancing and personalities. Besides these things, Blaine doesn't have enough depth as a character to judge him on anything else. Also, the point I was trying to make is that the writers make them stereotypical which they did to Blaine simply by puttin him at an expensive boarding school with a uniform and gelling his hair down from his natural curls to make him look like that stereotype. Physical appearances alone are enough to do it.

Plus homosexuals and people getting preggers.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought HSM had Zac Efron and if it had gone 1 more movie I'm sure that Vanessa Hudgens would have been the one getting pregnant

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Except way better and with Darren criss!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd say the acting is a bit better. I won't comment on the singing, though, because at this point they've done around four Beatles songs. I'm sorry, but there's no way Glee can cover the Beatles without me dying inside a bit each time.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know they aren't original songs, but it's not some amazing thing to have singing in a show. If you think that's the defining point, then you might as well compare broadway shows to high school musical as well. no it just irks me how everyone compares glee to it just because of the musical style. Why don't we compare it to hairspray and grease as well while we're at it?
