+126 you hate it when people have to randomly bring religious debates into an argument. nobody cares whether or not you believe in god when we were just talking about grammar, amirite?

This exactly. And, even if it is a more serious topic than grammar, unless it's specifically about religion, then bringing religion into it is just stupid - saying "The Bible says this, so if you disagree, then you must be disagreeing with God" and it changes the argument into one about the Bible. Basically, if you can't back up your side of the debate without using religion or religious texts, if you can't back up your position using recent studies, etc., then you haven't got much of a side. And, many people aren't religious, or don't follow your religion (obviously I'm using the example of Christianity). To tell a non-Christian that the Christian God says X, is like going to someone "The Polynesian Sun God I worship disagrees with you" - it doesn't mean anything.
