I don't think that most books for teenagers are like that (heck The Hunger Games is hugely popular now, and not like that at all). I think that most popular teen fiction is fantasy or sci-fi. It's not really new and it doesn't mean that there aren't other stories unrelated to the horror genre.

Almost anything designed specifically for teenagers sucks ass. We can use things designed for adults, regular people, with ease, and I find it a little insulting that people think we can't.
