+214 Independence Day celebrates the day when John Hancock alone signed the Declaration of Independence and the rest of Congress still gets credit for it (they didn't sign until after July 4th). Congress hasn't changed much since 1776, has it, amirite?

You're both incorrect July 2nd - Continental Congress passes the Declaration preamble July 4th - Changes are made to Declaration particulars; Hancock signs unedited version August 2 - Edited version is released and signed by most delegates January 1777 - Last delegate signs
