+270 It doesn't make sense why we have to shift a key to obtain a symbol that we use more than the non shifted key (an example is the question mark). amirite?

When you're typing a web address you sometimes need the backslash (/) so that might be their logic; that it'd the the quickest way to do so. Then for the colon and semi-colon (;), if someone is writing an essay, they MIGHT use a colon once to make a list, but I find myself using a semi-colon in every other paragraph I type.

And many years ago when the keyboard was being designed, they probably figured we would have to type in all of our websites character for character.
