+397 Even if you can't see them, you can usually tell if a guy is black or white just from their voice, amirite?

Rick Astley.

Not mine. It's probably some slang words that I use that give away.

Black guys usually have a deeper tone to their voices. White guys have a higher tone. It's because low tones reach further in the heat, and it's hotter in Africa. So the vocal cords have adapted that way. It's less noticeable now, because each generation of blacks not in Africa gets further and further away from true African.

Have you heard of Josh turner?

No.

He's a country singer and his voice is really deep. (he's white btw) and most country singers since the 80s have really deep voices. Not arguing just saying

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh yeah I know. I wasn't saying white people couldn't have deep voices (look at Vincent Price) but on average its higher. Black people can have high voices as well, like Prince or MJ.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah I was just saying in the music industry white guys that sing country have deeper voices. Especially compared to rockstars

(Chauncy Pickles): I'm not sure how much pull a otolaryngologist will have on the media.... but.... *dials number* STOP THE PRESSES!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That was confusing. I meant to have this as a reply to reddead, but it came back up here... I feel like the score would've been better otherwise.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Chauncy Pickles): Yeah. I think people thought you were replying to me and not miss obvious. I looked at it and thought "Why is this negative and mine positive?" Cause I was just working off of you.

In the game Jet Set Radio, there's this black guy, DJ Proffesor K, and he sounds so black but he's voiced by a white guy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well only people that can see using echolocation can see a voice, let alone the voice of a black or white guy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"them" refers to the subject, the subject is "a guy."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When I first heard Jessie J on the radio, I thought she was a black woman.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Even if you can't see them, you can usually tell if a GUY is black or white just from their voice, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I didn't know we were prohibited from using a different reference which clearly still relates to the topic.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I did too, but then I saw her on SNL.

Chocolate rain.

Except for Elmo. Elmo really contradicts here.

A while back I would have agreed with you, but recently I found the guy I've been talking to online/via telephone lied to me (no surprises there). He spent 4 years saying he was white and his voice fitted perfectly. Turns out he's black. And a filthy liar.
