Say the mom has nice eyes, but horrid lips- like so bad no one notice her eyes, and the dad had the opposite, really bad eyes and pretty lips. The baby would either get really nice eyes and lips, or really bad eyes and lips, which would still look good because its proportionate to each other and symmetrical. That's how it works in my head.
