-380 Why is it that daughters will get anything they want, while sons must "earn it" or "pay for it themselves"...... parents are biased, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

ha, it sure as hell doesn't work like that in my family.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

me too lol

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In my culture boys are usually favored over girls, so they're the ones that get spoiled

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What culture would this be?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I dunno if their Chinese, but I know that's how it is there.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm east Indian. It's not really the case in my immediate family but I do see it happen a lot with some of my parents' relatives.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So not the case for me. My older brother was like royalty in our family. And still is, but now that's moved out its a little different. My brother comes home from work: OHH HONEY HOW WAS YOUR DAY!? CAN I GET YOU SOMETHING TO EAT? NEED A NAP!??" I come home from school: Hey.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Same. My mom would drive my 28 year old brother 30 miles to work and back and wouldn't take me to school 2 miles up the road. (And before anyone says you could walk, no I can't, I can hardley carry a backpack to my next class let alone to school with my back being the way it is). I follow my moms instructions that she gave me wrong and get yelled at, untill my brother says he heard her tell me to do what I did. He wants to get this sort of food that is far from being on sale at the store, she gets it. I ask for something at the store, I don't. He gets to have people over, I don't. She once told me "You would have more freedom if you were a boy" too. A lot of familes are like that with boys, a lot of them beleive in "boys will be boys" and spoil them and let them get away with murder.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"boys will be boys" is so stupid. I'm a guy, an I think society shouldn't just assume guys will do stuff nor let them off the hook because it's stereotypical of them. It's stupid.

Guys: You voted YYA, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Doubt it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My dad has it the other way around. I have been looking after myself for 2 years now. My dad looked after my eldest brother till he was 33...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Eh. I have a sister, and I'm a girl, so doesn't really apply to me. OH, but when my cousins come over (they're both guys) their parents let them do anything and my parents won't even let my sister drive to chipotle when it's like a minute away from my house and she has her license.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Depends on the parents. I know plenty of parents who make ALL of their children do some type of work regardless of their gender.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe your parents just don't like you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm the on son in the family and I'm spoiled up to a point. I'm also the middle child but since I'm the son, I am a bit more spoiled than the first and third born. Not saying I agree with it, but there should be some type of equality between children.

Vote up if you're a guy with a younger sister and feel that your father secretly favors her over you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Vote down if you're not.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

obviously...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What is this? YouTube?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i voted up because its like that for my brother.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

All my siblings are treated fairly... wary is there something wrong with my family?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Mine are, too (except my younger brother, he's treated slightly different due to special needs).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, boys are usually given more freedom and such, so whatever. It depends on the family, anyway.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Im a girl, In my house we are all treated the same but, my mom takes my bro to work and pays him for it, she took me once and what did i get? a thanks sweety, my bro gets go go anywhere alone, i have to go almost everywhere with him, when he wants to take me, even had to take him in a date..... awful. He got an http://www.hitechreview.com/uploads/2010/08/Sansa_Fuze_Plus_Portable_Player1.jpg with 4gb for his bday, i got an mp3 player with no screen and 2gb.....yea the rest is pretty much fair

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Since when do girls always get what they want? We have to prove ourselves too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's switched in my house. But the point is still the same.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When I was a kid I could either wait for a holiday to ask for a gift or I could do yard work until I had enough to pay for it myself. My dad didn't care what gender I was, if I wanted that Polly Pocket I was going to have to earn it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Same for me and all my siblings.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

HA! I wish it were like that in my family.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Girls get spoilt so that they can remain a daddy's girl and listen to him when they are 16 and he says NO SEX...UNTIL YOU ARE 40!!! Whereas he would tell the guy, "Here, have some condoms".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When the girls are young they are spoiled and the boys have to earn it, but once in their teens the boys are spoiled and can do "whatever" whilst the girls have to beg and plead to get anything.
