People need to focus more on the lyrics of a song as opposed to the singers voice. Amirite?

Songs are supposed to sound good. Thats the point. If you want something with really deep meaning then listen to a poem.

How about both? Fuck Auto-tune, make it illegal or something, and never let songs like Friday see the light of day.

I disagree. Strongly. But everyone has their own opinions :)

If I like the sound of the singer's voice, it makes me listen to the song much more carefully than I would if I didn't like his/her voice.

I kind of agree... I mean, if you look at Bob Dylan. Even most of his fans make fun of his singing voice, but his lyrics are really good. And then there's pop singers with mediocre, cliche lyrics but a "good" singing voice. To me, it's all really just the music. I don't care much for awesome singers as long as their voice goes along with the music.

Dylan's voice actually kind of grew on me. My first song I heard by him was "Sarah" and I was like, "This guy sounds like a duck or something, what's the big deal?" but his lyrics totally sucked me in. His voice even started to become better to me, but it may have been the influence of his creativity and skill with lyrics that showed that he was clearly talented.

I agree completely! I'm not a fan of his voice, but I love his songs.

A singer's voice is an instrument. If it doesn't sound good, then the lyrics aren't going to seem as good as they could be.
