+57 It's totally lame that McDonald's is gonna start putting fewer fries in happy meals and is automatically adding apples to them, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Than order a normal meal...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

because it takes the happy out of the happy meal

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Child obesity takes more happy away than lack of fried foods and presence of fruit.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not like this is going to solve childhood obesity. Happy meals are still going to be unhealthy and chock full of calories. Restaurants shouldn't be held responsible for child obesity, the parents should.

Children see food they want when they're in a restaurant and it's pretty hard to convince them to eat something healthier if junk food is available. With less of that food available to them, parents are able to buy the more nutritional food because they have better choices. Not only that, but teens who go out on their own and buy food could also be limited. Besides, saying parents are responsible for it all is hardly fair unless you want every family to start a vegetable garden instead of going to the store or out to eat.

Parents should be ultimately responsible for what their children are ordering at a restaurant and how often they're eating out. I rarely ate at restaurants when I was a kid; most of the meals I ate were home cooked. I fail to see how it's so difficult for parents to cook real food for their kids instead of giving them processed crap all the time.

I think it's just a marketing gimmick on McDonalds' behalf to try and get health activists off its back.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Very good point, sir or ma'm.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, sometimes parents aren't responsible and it's decreasing the calories, so it will make some difference.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Also a valid point.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I still eat happy meals sometimes. I WANT MUH FRIES, and they already don't put enough fries in there in the first place.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Damn you McDonald's! Damn you for at least making an effort to cut down on childhood obesity!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

holy shit, thats going to put safeway out of business with the cost of fruit nowadays

by Anonymous 12 years ago

McDonalds did it of their own accord. She just said "Oh wow, Good job guys!"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Indeed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I mean, if you go to McDonald's, you're not expecting a healthy meal. If parents stopped taking their kids to McDonalds so often, McDonald's wouldn't have to do this sort of thing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, because I'm adult that no longer orders happy meals.... But yes, it's stupid that McDonald's is putting apples with happy meals without letting the parents choose.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If I wanted apples with my grease burger, I would've ordered apples with my grease burger! No need to take away my fries.
