+108 People who argue whether abortion is right/wrong: What would've happened if Merope Gaunt aborted her baby, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

On the other hand, what if Kendra Dumbledore aborted her baby?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But her life wasn't threatened or anything, and she wanted him and her husband didn't give up on her, why would she abort him?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Listen it isnt that its right or wrong its that regardless of it being legal or not people will still get them regardless. Many doctors concur that it being legal prevents unnecissary deaths cause by alleyway abortions. People are going to make decisions in life regardless of what the government says, abortions are just as prominent now as they were when they were illegal. the point is your probably young and don't understand much about how the world works. Heroin is illegal for instances yet its still a huge problem in society.

I wasn't really talking about it being legal or illegal, and I'm sure no one on amirite wants to get an abortion so I wasn't really convincing someone on here to do so or discouraging them or something, nor did I ever really voice my opinion in the situation so.. But I guess you're right lol

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I believe abortion should be legal.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well this is awkward, I was just talking about what would've happened if your mom aborted you.... wary

Ask an abortion question, get fanatical abortion arguments.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh yeah, then the fictional man would never have existed, God, wouldn't that be great?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hitler. Nuff'.

Wizards don't appear to have abortions, or any way to check how their baby will turn out. Otherwise how many magical families would check if their child would be a squib and abort it? If you're going to argue a real life issue, use a real life example.

She could've had an abortion at muggle's hospital, the same way her son was born in one. Actually he was born in the orphanage I think. And people understand and enjoy stuff more when you use Harry Potter references, or idk pokemon or star wars or whatever they like lol, especially people on amirite. And if you want a real life example, there's Hitler! But I wasn't sure if his mom's life was threatened or what so yeah

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Very true. Although if Hitler had been aborted, I wouldn't have been born because it was because of World war 2 that my grandparents met. A lot of people probably wouldn't exist if Hitler was born, actually. The problem with the past is that if you change it, everything can change with it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh really? Aw that's cute :) Yeah that's true, you're right. LOL my grandma said a few days ago that she wishes she was never born and I was like I wouldn't have been born either lol.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hitler's mother considered having an abortion, but her doctor talked her out of it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah I wanted to use him as an example too LOL, but then decided to keep it Harry Potter related only.

Do you really want to list ALL the things that wouldn't have happened if Voldemort was never born?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nope because there's a lot. But I already listed a few above. If Voldemort was never born, then we would have no amazing book, we'd have no Voldy, Harry wouldn't be special, and besides it's not like his mom knew he was going to be evil. But on the other hand, if he were never born, his mom would still be alive and there would be no dark lord later on.

This argument just won't work. It goes both ways. There have been plenty of children born into unfortunate circumstances who turned out great. Merope Gaunt was disturbed, anyway. Even if Voldemort hadn't been an orphan, he would have had issues. There's also the problem of not being able to predict the future. You can't abort a life based on assumptions. In theory, it sounds good. In practise, it's equal to executing someone without proving them guilty, figuratively speaking.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah you're right, it depends, it's not like every baby raised in an orphanage is going to grow up to be evil, most of them probably grow up to be nice. Exactly what I meant by this post; it goes both ways.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think the OP meant this in a lighthearted way. I doubt think the intent was to start a debate. :P

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, exactly! Thank you
