+352 Americans: you would accept a foreign president if he did his job right and got rid of some of the national debt. amirite?

You do understand that the President isn't a dictator, right? He can't just "do his job right" and magically fix the debt crisis. He can't do shit about it without the House and Senate, and Obama has been very flexible and willing to compromise so far. However, I might accept a bunch of foreign legislators if they did their jobs right and weren't a bunch of stubborn assholes.

He could still propose bills to help with the debt and veto ones that will increase the debt. True or no?

He's been negotiating with Republicans over a huge bargain to cut the debt somewhere in the ballpark of $3 trillion for weeks now, offering them almost all of what they want as long as the plan includes at least some tax increases, which is reasonable when you're talking about $14 trillion dollars. And yes he can veto bills that add to the deficit, but during a recession the government is SUPPOSED to deficit spend to make up for the loss of consumer spending and then balance the budget once the economy starts taking off again. That's why most economists say that we should wait before we take trillions of dollars out of the economy through government cuts.

also a "foreign president" aren't all the same. Someone who wasn't born in America, sure, but i wouldn't want someone who couldn't speak english running my country as long as english is the official language.

You hit in the head. Obama isn't the problem, it's the republicans who're never satisfied and aren't willing to compromise that are. Unless you replace all those idiots who aren't willing to do what's best for the country instead of themselves, Obama by himself won't be able to do anything. And if I was him, I'd have told them to go fuck themselves, because stretching this out any longer than they have isn't helping anyone.

Yes, he can propose and veto bills, but the House and Senate can vote against anything the President proposes, and they can vote against him in the case of a veto. There isn't much the president can do without the consent of the House and Senate.

But doing that would basically be telling other countries that the US is so incompetent that it needs a foreign leader to fix their mess..

I'm not patriotic at all, but if our government was run by a bunch of people who aren't even US citizens, what kind of morale is that to the people of the country? It is like saying "this country is so pathetic that out of hundreds of millions of you, not even a few were smart enough and honest enough to lead". There are obviously good and bad politicians, and none of them alone can fix everything. You really think that our own people are all so morally and intellectually corrupted that no one is capable, and that we need outside help? On a side note, power by itself tends to corrupt, and that may explain why so many leaders are seemingly so selfish and stubborn. Basically I am not racist or nationalist or against foreigners, but I just don't like the message a foreign president would send to the citizens

We're so used to saying negative things about the president, we would find faults in whatever he did. If Obama saved a child, we would say that Obama deprived the child from developing, by rescuing himself.
