-180 There should be an age requirement for attending a church service. Young children don't pay attention and can't really understand what's being said. They also distract the parents and people around them. Amirite?

That's why churches that have enough families with younger children offer Sunday School....

Also, then when they are young they can actually think that that is the only religion they should have, and then they wont have a chance to choose what they believe because that's how they were taught. I don't know how well i explained this, but I hope you get my point.

I get your point. Although think about it like this. If you have a child, you would want to do everything you can to stop them from going to hell, if that's what you believe.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, I get what your saying.

Anthony NW'd this :(

Lots of other people did as well.

I agree that there should be an age limit on children allowed to go to church, but not just for that reason. I don't believe in taking children to a place of worship purely because of their parents' beliefs; people should only attend church if they personally believe in the foundations of what the religion stands for. I personally believe that children should be given equal education on the foundations of every religion (rather than being told from birth what is "true"), then when they feel old enough to choose, they may then attend the place of worship of their choice, or none at all.

well the Bible tells those of the Christian faith to raise their children using the word of God. They wouldn't be very good parents, or very good Christians, if they let their children choose what religion they want to follow.

So basically you're saying your happiness is more important than your child's? That's basic parenting 101, and if they're smart enough they'll choose their own religion.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If the child is smart enough to be able to choose, they will refute it if they find the reason no matter what they learned.

I don't know why this is down voted, it's true. Assuming the church doesn't have some sort of day care or Sunday school, it's very inappropriate and can be disruptive to everyone else in attendance. It's like when people bring babies to movie theaters. It's just not a good idea.

If people get their children baptized in the church, you're supposed to bring them to church...

Or parents should just learn how to take car of their children better. At my church all the kids are perfectly behaved :)

Church, the movies, restaurants... anywhere they'll make a lot of noise, really.

I disagree. I think it's important for younger children to learn about faith so that they won't grow up having doubts. Attending services with the adults may be a little too advanced for their young minds. That's why I would recommend a youth group or Sunday School. Ya know...So they could have the basic principles taught to them and still learn about religion without interfering with the grown up services. wink
