+78 You don't understand why the are trying to send Mexicans back to Mexico,it's not like they are causing any problems, they aren't hurting anybody, they just want to make a living for their families just like you and me.... amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's called welfare. Where do you think your taxes go? Also, newsflash: Mexicans don't pay any taxes. Think about that next April.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Can you get welfare without proving your citizenship?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Mexicans DO pay taxes Hun

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What kind??? Not the big ones: property or income.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They r some that do so don't go around saying they don't google it first then share your thoughts

by Anonymous 12 years ago

some do but i think its funny that you posted all your comments as anonymous because you cant even admit to your opinions.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah so true damn *sad face*

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Seriously? You're gonna go for the anonymous attack? That's a last resort.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well then you just declared yourself the winner. Yay for you! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Yay i win too!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

YAY! (just so everyone is clear, I'm not the anon. Anon attacks just anoy me).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i figured as much. they annoy me too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

if you're anon it's because you're afraid to show your opinion. it's pretty stupid because if you can't say your opinion over the internet where people don't know you, you must be really pathetic in real life.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So? Its a bad argument and has nothing to do with what they were talking about. They even said it annoys them too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yea they do..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Bad for the economy, maybe? Just take the test if you wanna be here so bad. And learn English.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's like saying "it's okay that he stole food, he's only stealing for his family" Coming here illegally is stealing citizenship. I don't care if people want to come over here, just do it legally. It's not that hard. They even have amnesty for countries that won't let you out.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not that hard? I beg to differ http://cominganarchy.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/immigration.jpg

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So it's okay to sneak in because it's faster? What about the people actually waiting in line, they just had their spot stolen. I don't care if it takes 10 years, if your life is that hard in your home country you can apply for amnesty.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know. My mom knows lots of people who came here illegally from Nigeria, but she wasn't one of them. Now she's a citizen because of all of her hard work. It's not cool to those who worked their ass off to be here that people just sneak in.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well...technically you are an emigrant also....before americans this was Native American land...then the white man came and stole it from them like it was their own....then they took the africans from their home... and just because mexicans wanna come over here to make a differance and help their families we shouldn't kick them out...its not fair...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There were no laws then and people were discovering the world. That is not the situation today and as such the same rules don't apply. I don't know why people use that argument because the circumstances were drastically different. And I don't think we should kick them out but I also don't think we should let them come in willy nilly. If they are already here and they get caught we should set it up for them to get citizenship before tossing them out, but if they don't want to get citizenship we send them back.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's because it's taking jobs from legal Americans. I find them a wonderful culture personally. They should be allowed to go where they please.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I love this post!..I have a friend who's parents can't let's them see their grandparents..its so sad...I mean we can see our parents whenever but can you imagine not being to see them...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

its because people like my family have to give away HALF of what they earn to taxes, and now they cannot afford things like a new car. But the illegals keep every dime they make and drive around in mercedes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There is no way your family would have to give away half of what they earn considering the tax bracket for the highest income earners in America is only 35%.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Don't be a bitch about how specific it is. she's only 15% off of the highest. And she didn't say mexico. Just because the OP was talking about Mexican immigration doesn't mean that it's not another country Frasier was talking about.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I wasn't being a bitch, she said "HALF", 35% is not half. I didn't say anything about Mexico either???

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I mean like if she's not talking about America, it could well be half.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Her profile says she's from the U.S. I know 15% dosn't sound like much, but it is when you're talking about income tax, like I pay 30% and I'm a middle income earner and I can pay my bills and live a comfortable life, if I had to pay 45% on my current salary I would struggle.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You have to realize that half of her family's income could go to taxes due to assets and stuff that isn't readily spent as money (such as owning a house) and that they're "income" is not the only thing taxed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

35% of the income earned is taxed. That doesn't include the property taxes for their home, sales taxes on their food, cars, clothing, and home repairs. Sales taxes vary across States but can be as much as 10%. There are also road taxes factored into gasoline prices. Taking all that into account, half is not surprising.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You actually think they make enough to have a Mercedes? They have to use every dime they earned to just get by. They work hours for almost nothing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And the jobs they take most Americans wouldn't do anyway. They do the fieldwork of picking crops and stuff like that. Most Americans are too on their high horse to do a job like that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*ahem* But who did it before companies started hiring illegals so that they didn't have to pay them as much? Americans. Yes, there are many Americans who feel that they are too good for the job, but there are many many more who actually need the job but can't get it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

and its not like americans feel like they are too good for those jobs, we just got an education so we dont HAVE to do them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. I've known immigrants (legal ones) who get stuck with shit jibs despite being very intelligent. One guy had to work his ass off as a goddamn busboy and do you know what he was back in his home country? A veteranarian. It has nothing to do with education.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ugh. *jobs

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Americans have always hired cheap immigrant labor. Before the Mexicans, it was whoever happened to be the "in" crowd at the time. Any chance you have read Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle"?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No. Only glimpses of it here and there in Fast Food Nation. But even so, it was less then than it is now.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's the fault of the business. If we want to stop having illegal immigrants come over, we need to do two general things: 1.) Stop letting companies get away with hiring people illegally. We should find a way to make it more profitable not to hire illegals. We should impose strict penalties and actually go after the companies. 2.) We need to help Mexico get on their feet. Or at least support them in their endeavors to right themselves, to a reasonable extent. The illegal immigrants aren't the cause; they are the effect of companies who want cheap labor, and a country (Mexico) that is by no means steady.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Large companies won't let that happen though. The biggest ones pay off congressmen so that they won't impose any laws that would require them to do so. And then the companies feed off of the labor of immigrants because it's easier and cheaper for them to do. The government says they don't want them here, but they don't try hard enough to get them out or make them citizens.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly. It's something that needs to be changed. We should be telling our government how to serve us, not the reverse. Going after illegal immigrants isn't going to do anything if we don't go after the companies too. I just find it ridiculous when people place all the blame on the immigrants, like companies are giving them jobs illegally.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't mind them being over here. Nor do I mind them speaking Spanish. America needs to diversify itself, get with the times, and be multilingual. I say, why not make it easier to become a citizen? There are plenty of hardworking Mexicans/Other non-Mexican illegals who want to be citizens, but the test is hard and the wait takes forever.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't see why everyone hates people speaking their language either. I think people should make an effort to learn the official language though, at least a bit.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know. It's just spanish. If you don't understand it, it doesn't matter because they most likely weren't speaking to you anyway.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Seriously. This one time, my friend was talking to a boy in Vietnamese who just came to this country, and when they were talking, these girls behind us were like, "God, speak English." I don't see why it was even their business.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They're just nosey. People can't mind their own business.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The test is hard the wait takes forever because there are soooo many people that want(ed) to live in America. If they let everyone become a citizen easily our country would be just as overrun as it is now. I don't anticipate this being as big of a problem in the next 10 years as the United States is becoming more unstable every year.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's just it. Sure there will be a lot of them but at least you can keep track of documented citizens.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I want to llive in the UK. If Mexicans can make it there, they deserve it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

when a illegal comes in and takes my job yeah now im pissed cause i can no longer provide cause som dude mexican stole it from me

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I feel bad for the Mexicans who are coming here illegally for a better life. They feel trapped and as though they have no options. The American Dream is a world full of options and opportunities. I also do not think that they are necessarily the root of the problem, or that they are hurting our country's economy in any way that isn't negligible. Welfare: why would they announce to the government that they are here? Jobs: It's the companies' faults for giving them jobs, and creating low-paying job, unethical opportunities. Mexico also isn't exactly the best country in the world right now. The illegal immigrants are desperate. They come here and scrape-bye, as what we would consider poor, yet it's better than what they could get back in Mexico. It's a bunch of nonsense to think that they're somehow getting rich off of us, or creating a huge burden. Some of them actually pay hidden taxes. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5312900 "As for federal and state public assistance programs, illegal immigrants qualify for some but not all benefits. For example, undocumented immigrants do not qualify for the same benefits that U.S. citizens get with regards to food stam...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

...ps, cash assistance and MassHealth, according to the Web-site MassResources.org, a non-government that provides information about federal and state-funded programs." http://www.southcoasttoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080702/NEWS/807020304 But then again there are most likely other websites that contradict this. There's no way to no for sure. But I find it extremely doubtful. Either way, kicking them out wont solve the problem of them coming over: they'll keep coming over until we get rid of their reasons to come.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not just about jobs and the economy. It's about culture and social welfare. Legal immigrants tend to be upstanding citizens who have respect for the laws of their country. Illegal immigrants tend to disregard laws. Their main aversion to illegal activities is based on not wanting to get caught. I don't know about you, but I'm far more comfortable being a part of a culture that wants to do the right thing because it's right than a culture that looks like it's doing the right thing because it doesn't want to get in trouble for doing the wrong thing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree with your second paragraph, but I don't think many people in our society do things because they're right or not do things because they're wrong, if they can get away with it. I think that it how many people are. It's sad, but it's the way people are taught to be, probably when they're very young. In your first paragraph, I don't think that all illegal immigrants disregard laws (besides coming here illegally). Either way, I feel sympathy for the ones who are genuinely coming here for a better life. I still don't think that they should be here. I don't like the fact that they are coming here illegally and breaking our laws, but I don't think just sending them back will solve the problem of them coming over. I made a comment higher up.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You can't just steal citizenship because your life will be better somewhere else. If every poor man and his family just walked on over to the wealthy countries, those countries would soon be no better off than the poor and unstable countries that the immigrants came from. For stability of a nation you need regulation and enforcement. As a nation, if you can't control and keep record of who comes to your country, then what can you control? I'm not blaming the immigrants for seeking a better life, but legal immigration policies are the only logical way to go

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If there are any US citizens commenting on here who are of European descent, take a step back and think a moment, because it's entirely likely that your ancestors came here years ago and took things from the indigenous people because they were poor and trying and desperate and wanted to feed their families, just like the Mexicans do now. Just putting things in perspective.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And yet they came legally. That, or they came when there was no difference between legal and illegal immigration: you came on a ship. Life was actually either the same or harder here at that point. The majority of the reasons they left were due to religious persecution, and not for an easier life. When America first started, I'm talking Jamestown times, the chances you'd survive making it to America and living there were really low. Compare that to how Mexicans come in for a better standard of living. That's perspective.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm pretty sure wanting to freely practice religion falls under 'wanting an easier life'.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh yea, because freedom of religion is so much more important than better living conditions and praying you make it through the season, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

To them it was, yes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fuck, I'll give you that one.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think they have every reason to want a better life, but they need to do it legally. There are tons of people who do it legally and have to wait a really long time. how is that fair?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well now that I've read all the comments I can see that intelligence definitely isn't one of amirite's strong points

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You just realized this NOW?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well you're on here saying something with no intelligence so thanks for joining in.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Honestly they are not bad. They take jobs with low pay that no one else will take. The after they are done with their job for the day, they go home and keep to themselves.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Mexicans in general aren't being sent back. Illegal Immigrants, yes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Breaking news, white people hate things that aren't white. Yes, Mexicans are just things to the majority of whites

by Anonymous 12 years ago

why should our hospitals take care of illegal immigrants who can't pay and dont have health insurance? and why do children of illegal immigrants get free schooling when their parents aren't paying taxes? for all the illegal immigrants out there, that's alot of money. I wonder who's paying for it... oh wait.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

To the people who justify sending the illegals back by claiming they take citizen's jobs: Most Americans would take the jobs they take such as ones that involve long laborous hours and little pay. I'm not saying that Americans are lazy; I'm just saying would you honestly take a job that involved 10+ hours a day in all climates. Its not like illegals can go on welfare. They don't pay taxes, and they don't get the benefits. Also, are you willing to send back an adult/teenager who has lived here since they were a toddler and had no say in the matter if they crossed the border illegally or not. I know someone who is friends with a guy who got sent back when they turned 18 even though he had lived here since he was 2. It's not like he had any say in if the moved to the US.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*would not* not would, sorry!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fact: Every illegal immigrant is not from mexico. Fact 2: Every immigration issue used as an argument in this post and it's comments focuses on mexicans. Fact 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35TbGjt-weA

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was just stating in the original post about the law people are trying to get passed to send mexicans back...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fact 4: Immigration laws removing them from the country would effect all persons living in the United States illegally not just the Mexican ones.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

so this post is saying illegal immigrants dont hurt anyone? umm,in massahusetts like a week ago a 20 year old was hit by a drunk illegal immigrant and dragged for miles under his truck, while the illegal had his 6 year old son in the car, then he backed up the car over the man finally killing him. the police knew this guy was illegal and if they had deported him then that poor 20 year old would still be alive.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

First off, it isn't easy to gain us citizenship nor is it easy getting here. Most ofbthe time the mexicans that do get a visa is because of money, and if they had money why even come? Alao, there are plenty of people who die while trying to criss the border. Second, the jobs they 'take' are usually jobs americans dont want in the first place. And most of the illegal immigranys i know DO pay taxes. Ever heard of an ITIN? Of course there are all these great arguements as to why they shouldnt be allowed to stay, but i must admit i am biased. Im a first generation mexican-american and i see both my parents struggle everyday, but even so they claim its easier than living in mexico. They pay taxes, pay rent, and dont cause problems with the law. How is it that most people here dont get shit about being immigrants? I find it a bit unfair. Blegh.... tl;dr

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Typos..... -_-
