+335 Almost every cliché contains a truth so profound that people have been compelled to repeat it until it makes you roll your eyes. But the wisdom is still in there, amirite?

Contrary to popular belief, a watched pot does boil

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Pot doesn't boil. Water does.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

anything boils, given an sufficient amount of heat

by Anonymous 12 years ago

An sufficient?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Pardon me. I forget that people don't know my shorthand. I use "an" before any questionable amount...it stands for Any Number. Since the sufficient heat it takes to boil "anything" depends upon what that thing is, I used "an" to specify that the heat may vary. Sorry for forgetting about that. Thanks for pointing it out.

.... :/ "with sufficient heat" also works. And seems less insulting to your intelligence.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought you meant to say "a". Any number sufficient amount of heat sounds weird.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Woah. You shouldn't go around accusing people of things that are definitely not true. You heard my explanation. It was shorthand. Shorthand is not meant to be pronouced but understood. I makes complete sense. I just forgot I used it. You don't know what I think so don't act like you do!
