In Australia you don't have to wait a specific amount of time to report a missing child.

It should be shorter than that for kids, I think. For teens, though, it's 24 hours.

It should be as soon as you know they are missing. If you are sure that you cannot find your child, then you should be able to report them missing. The longer you have to wait, the less likely you will be to find them.
