At 400+ mph, seat belts are pretty irrelevant.

If you crash a plane, more than likely the seat belt isn't going to save you from flying out a window, because even if you DO fly out, you're deader than hell.

It's not the speed that matters, but speed differentials. Going 100 miles per hour isn't dangerous, unless you're going 100 mph and everyone else is going 40 mph.
