-92 A true writer will never write false things to impress others, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So, fiction writers aren't "true writers"?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i appreciate your question; i think here it needs some clarification. Writing false things means writing something which is wrong and bad, which gives wrong teaching to the society. for eg: a writer will write: "a true man is the one who has used and slept with many girls". now here it will be liked by number of guys and will be encouraged but it actually gives a wrong teaching. Thanks for questioning because even i am a fiction writer :)

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

your welcome :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly. And, a lot of times, in school, they have you write a story from someone else's point of view. It's annoying, and it's hard because you don't believe it, but it does help you write better.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

thus only if a writer writes with a good intention , only then it will be good for society :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

so whyd you NW?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

nw? i didnt understood your question

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i was talking to cookiedough. NW = no way

by Anonymous 12 years ago

hyperbole?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

nope, it is not hyperbole; if a writer is writing wrong things to impress people then he cannot be said as a 'true writer'. A 'true writer' would write with a sense of responsibility of expressing the truth

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That sounds more of being a good journalist then being a good writer.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

a good journalist is also a writer who writes for news-papers :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

A journalist is someone who writes the news and should do it with the truth of the story yet some of the best writers of journalism were completely false in their stories. Just like someone writing a book of their life and adding their opinion that certain drugs are good. A good writer is a good writer, and a true writer is someone who takes the time to actually write. The truth isn't a factor because the truth is different person-to-person.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i agree that truth is different from person to person; basically there is nothing that can judge whether it is truth or not. what i feel that when a writer writes with good intention considering the welfare of others then he is surely a good writer and closest to be considered as a true writer.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Once again, I don't believe a true writer is someone who has good intentions for everyone or so on. If you take the time to actually write, you enjoy it, and it's what you want to do, you are a true writer. That is my opinion though. If you agree that the truth is different person to person, then good intentions may be bad intentions in someone elses eyes to go with what you are saying. So either everyone is a true writer and they are not.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

it is difficult for a man to judge whether something is true or not; but, it is easy for every human to judge whether his intentions are good or not :) If our actions hurt someone then there is problem in our intention/action.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Every action will cause someone to hurt. The leader of any country has to make a choice, write out bills and laws and it will hurt someone. Doesn't make them bad . . . just stupid at times. If a news report from a journalist hurts someone famous for exposing something they did, it doesn't make them any less of a true writer. Everyone will get hut by peoples actions and intentions, it doesn't mean them a bad person, even more so because in THEIR mind they are doing a good thing. And it's NOT easy for any human to judge whether their intentions or good or not, when you are faced with multiple pros and cons.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

when a leader is making a decision with a good intention then the chance of others getting hurt is too less. it may happen that your good intention may hurt someone but that hurting will not be the intentional one. suppose if a human is doing a work, if he is doing an action which will profit him but will result loss to others then he is doing it with bad intention.

What is 'false'? An opinion cannot be 'false'. Art... you can't call it 'false'. Beauty, cannot be 'false' either. I'm just wondering what does that mean.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

here, false means to speak lie for a selfish motive.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

This is a question about someone's moral perception. Some may think that's what they want ~ acceptance and fame. Maybe that writer's intention is to use these 'lies' to show the problems and wrong about writing 'lies'. As a student, understanding other's perspectives and putting yourself into their shoes allow me to think broader and have more layers to my knowledge. I think I am kinda off track but thoughts are like that eh? haha I'm new to this site and realize this is a good place to have deep discussion with people from all around the world (ie. this conversation).

by Anonymous 10 years ago

"putting yourself into their shoes..." this is a good approach that you have learned. So, you are a kind of offtrack thinker, great!!! I think we will surely have deep discussions in future.

by Anonymous 10 years ago

y good to know :) I get that's a flaw too cus I can get distracted easily haha! I can sit on a chair on my own and stare at the wall and just think, with discussion and questions and thoughts and imagination in my head. But I gotta study haha... right now I should be working on my lab report but these discussions are more interesting :p

by Anonymous 10 years ago

then do your work first. Our discussions are never-ending can be resumed anytime y
