+196 It's weird how we, humans, are the only animals that have to cook our food, how come animals, like wolves, can eat their meat raw and not get sick, amirite?

Animals don't mass produce meat products like we do - fresh meat would have far fewer bacteria. If we'd been eating raw meat since infancy, we'd probably be immune to most of the bacteria in it.

That makes sense, I guess

DAN YOU DA MAN

Because we cook our food, which gets rid of bacterias in it, and thereby eventually removing our immune system to said bacterias. Homo Erectus and Neanderthals ate raw meat and didn't get sick

"Homo Erectus" HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE

WOLVES ARE JUST BADASS LIKE THAT

We used to be able to eat raw meat. Thats what the appendix used to be used for. But over time as humans became more civilized, we started cooking our meat and the appendix became a vestigial organ. You can lose you appendix now and still function normally.

Man, fuck humanity. I wanna be able to tear into a friggin' deer with my bare hands and teeth, but my shitty digestive system wouldn't be able to handle it.

well if you are willing to put in the work in several years you could probably condition your body to the point were you could consume a reasonable quantity of raw flesh. your body just has to be used to taking in larger quantities of bacteria than your average westerner. if you can strengthen your immune system by slowly introducing more bacteria into your diet (probably by eating dirty food and drinking dirty water, or moving to a 3rd world country) then you could probably consume more raw meat. "Probably" being the key word there.

you can eat raw meat just fine, it just has to be fresh so that it doesn't collect to much bacteria, and usually you can't eat large quantities of it. it is very common in many parts of the world but in our western society we have been taught that it isn't safe so being without much bacteria in our food for so long we in the western society aren't immune to bacteria like say someone from a south east asia.

You can eat raw meat. If it is in it's origional packaging and has not gone below or above the safety temperatures, you will not get sick. If you had fangs and went out and killed your own little bunny rabbit for a meal, you COULD eat it. The people saying "we used to be able to but not anymore" are wrong.

I don't even eat meat. Would that mean if humans ate like wolves, I would starve to death?

We don't have the enzymes to digest then properly anymore
