most people have there pets for companionship. but personally I would only have a dog, an extremely intelligent animal that is very loyal and can learn as many practical skills as your average human.

Looking at it from a purely scientific standing, pets are parasites. As much as I like my dogs, they take up a whole lot of materials, and provide nothing in return.
