A person loving a beautiful dog like labrador is fine but loving a stray dog shows how lovely that person really is, amirite?

This is so sweet :) I'm glad there are still people who appreciate the beauty of our furry creatures, no matter what their background is.

I really do !!! one of my puppies was a stray and there really is no difference between them or one you would buy! I wish more people felt the same way about pets though :(

One of my dogs is a rescue and he's super difficult and antisocial, but I think it makes him quirky and I love him. He wasn't a stray, but he probably would have ended up as one if we hadn't gotten him.

This is why I always respect someone so much more when I find out they got their animal from the shelter or another place similar to that, because those animals need homes and if someone doesn't give them a home they'll die. It's easy to buy a purebread animal but mixed breeds from shelters always have so much more character :)

I adopted my poodle. His previous owner had him stuck in a small cage 24/7 and he would sleep in his own urine/feces. He may be a little asshole sometimes but I wouldn't trade him for anything.

The woman who trained my service dog (also a poodle smile

) took most of her dogs from shelters and gave them group obedience training before trying to teach them to be service dogs. That way if a dog wasn't smart enough or polite enough or hardworking enough to be a service dog she could still sell it as a fully trained pet. Poodleface was given to her by a shelter worker who liked him and didn't want him to be put down, which they were going to do because at the time he was a hyperactive puppy. He calmed down a lot when he grew up and now he's amazingly well behaved. I love him.

Oh, it angers me to no end how many animals die evey day in pounds while people won't think twice about shelling out hundreds of dollars for "special breeds." What the hell is so special about those dogs that makes people overlook the others? Do they fucking fly or whistle Dixie or something? No. They don't. They're just dogs. They've got four legs, and they lick their genitalia, and they've got a neurotic need for love and attention just like any other dog.

I love all dogs so much, but my family has labs and they're just as worthy of being loved as shelter dogs even though they weren't rescued.
