It would be ironic if an Asian was allergic to rice, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
only as much as a westerner being a celiac.

I don't think that's an example of irony.

Could you give me a reason why? and what word would be better to replace it?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, just because a stereotype of a certain people is that they eat a lot of rice doesn't make it ironic when they can't eat it. A better example of irony is someone who just took a life-long vow to

It's not a stereo type if its true ;D.

Yeah, but that's not all they eat. They might eat it a lot but they can find other foods. I mean, that's kind of like saying that someone who finds out that they're gluten-intolerant is in an ironic situation because it's in so many foods, when really that just sucks.

Well, just because a stereotype of a certain people is that they eat a lot of rice doesn't make it ironic when they can't eat it. A better example of irony is someone who just took a life-long vow to only eat rice products finds out that they're allergic. I think that your post is more just a shitty situation.

A life-long vow to eat rice comes free with being asian.
