-168 A Jedi would beat a wizard in a fight, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No way! The wizard would just cast "Avada Kedavra" before the Jedi even activated his lightsaber.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

A jedi would totally see that coming and block it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The wizard could cast "Accio Lightsaber", then the Jedi wouldn't have anything to block the spells with.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The jedi could force grab the wizards wand. A jedi without a lightsaber is way better then a wizard without a wand.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The wizard could apparate away, get another wand, then surprise attack the jedi.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Don't you need your wand to apparate? Also, you can't just grab a wand off the ground and expect it to do you any good. I would just apparate behind the jedi and cast Avada Kedavra.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You can't block Avada Kedavra...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Has anyone ever tried?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, and he didn't use a wand. Hell, he was barely coherent.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The main character of the series, perhaps...?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Right, I forgot. Still, we can't assume this Jedi will have some random family members to sacrifice themselves in battle.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

True, but if it's as easy as a sacrifice... You see, I think if a Jedi would lose, a Sith would win,

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't think a Sith is very likely to have any loved ones anyway. They have to sacrifice themselves for it to work; you can't just push them in front of a curse and expect it to rebound. Anyway, it's sort of implied that no one is able to interfere with the fight. Also, Voldemort said it was old magic, and even if someone used it, it could turn the Jedi into a horcrux.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah... that spell doesn't work in Star Wars.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Jedi could use his Jedi mind tricks to make the Wizard forget his spells

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The jedi mind trick only works on the weak-minded, and it would take too long to use.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Out of all of the arguments I've read on amirite, whether about religion or gay rights or abortion or other HP related stuff or even an argument about whether Nutella or Peanut Butter is better; this has to be the most pathetic one I've ever read. Sorry fellas.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

people my parents age need to get off this site

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Jedi are wizards, magic was just replaced by the phrase 'the force' so that it would be Sci-fi.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Jedi's would definitely win, they have lightsabers AND the force. Like Captn_Awesome said, Jedis are wizards.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Having more weapons doesn't make you more powerful. A wand is much more powerful than a lightsaber and the force.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It depends on the Wizard, if they were fighting Voldemort they MIGHT lose because he could cast Avada Kadavra. But, if they were facing Harry they would win because he can't kill people.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What if he used Petrificus Totalus or Obliviate? Anyway, when you ask who would win in a fight, you're assuming they would be willing to kill each other. Harry is fully capable of killing, but he chooses not to.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The problem is that people don't understand how powerful the force is. It's one of, if not the, most powerful things ever devised in the world of fiction. Here's a quote just to drive the point home. "Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force." - Darth Vader.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If it's so powerful, then why did they need to make the Death Star anyway? Why didn't Vader just destroy the planet himself? No matter how powerful the Force itself is, a Jedi is still not as powerful as a wizard. The Force could hold unlimited power, but Jedi have limited access to it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Most of the Empire didn't actually believe the Force was real. One of the officers responded (I think, haven't seen the movie in a while) with something about ancient religions.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They built it for terror, and it's always useful to have a central area to rule the Universe from. Palpatine did, infact, rule the Universe. When's the last time a wizard ruled anything? Limited access to unlimited power is still incredibly powerful. The average Jedi can augment his mind and physical ability, block almost any attack (especially energy based), control minds, heal themselves, blind opponents, stun their opponents, crush their opponents, etc. The more powerful Jedi can see into the future, kill everyone in their field of vision just by looking at them, drive their opponents insane, drain vitality from other living things, throw near-unstoppable balls of kinetic force, etc. The most powerful Jedi can create life out of nothingness, tear the very fabric of the space-time continuum, and transfer their spirit from one body to another. There's literally no way a wizard could defeat a Jedi.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've never seen a Jedi do any of those things. They can control minds, but only the weak ones. The only time I've seen them block an attack is with a lightsaber. The post just says "A Jedi" so we're assuming it's an average Jedi vs. an average wizard. The average wizard can block any attack, stun opponents, heal themselves, teleport, create explosions, set things on fire, control people, destroy objects, make things bigger or smaller, disarm enemies, slow down enemies, petrify people, move objects, make themselves invisible to non-wizards, summon snakes, torture people, erase some or all of their memories, or kill them; each by saying one or two words. http://harrypotterspells.net/ There's literally no way a Jedi could defeat a wizard.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That list of spells in nowhere near the power of the list of Force powers. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Force_power A Jedi can absorb or deflect any energy based attack, like spells, with or without their lightsaber. A wizard's wand is a stick, and would be easily shattered by a Jedi's telekentic abilities. Wizard's are also on par with humans as far as reaction times go. Jedi can use the Force to act before a wizard can react.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

A Jedi has never shattered anything with their mind in any Star Wars movie, nor have they used even a tenth of the abilities listed on that site.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, boy howdy! A lot of those spells haven't been used in the Harry Potter movies, either. The post doesn't limit the respective character to one form of media. Hell, if you want to stick to the movies, the only Jedi left is Anakin Skywalker, and he's practically God. Wizards lose anyway you cut it, except perhaps the strongest Wizard vs the weakest Jedi.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

OK, 36 of the 78 spells on the site have never been used as far as I know, but I'm not exactly the most hardcore Harry Potter fan. As for Jedi powers, I've seen force pull, force push, force choke, force lightning, Jedi mind trick, the lightsaber summoning thing, and the telekinesis thing. I have never heard of any of the others. We're going to stick to the forms of media that people have actually heard of. Wikipedia defines Star Wars as a series of movies. There was also a TV series and a few books, but I seriously doubt they introduced over a hundred new powers. We're not going to pick Anakin Skywalker, even if he's "the only Jedi left," whatever the fuck that means. If we actually had a battle, we would pick a bunch of random wizards and a bunch of random Jedi, and we would see which side wins the most battles.

Deadliest Warrior: Jedi vs. Wizards.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It all depends on how fast either opponent can think and process what the other is doing. If a Jedi is able to realize what the wizard is doing and DODGE the spell, he may be able to retaliate with his lightsaber or the force. A wizard can perform the spells quickly with experience and even in his head. He can apparate out of the way of the light saber or even perform spells on it. The lightsaber itself would't be able to dodge a spell; it would be obliterated. The Jedis have a chance at winning, but it is still in favor of the wizards :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Depends on the Jedi and the wizard who are fighting.
