It's strange that the Canadian Hockey Team is known as the "Maple Leafs" instead of "Maple Leaves", amirite?

The voters have decided that clsconroy is right! Vote on the post to say if you agree or disagree.

The Maple Leaf was a military infantry or something of the like, based in Toronto. Maple Leaf is a proper noun in this case, so the plural form is just the singular form with an s added to the end.

We have more than one hockey team!

The Leafs are just the Toronto team, there are lots more hockey teams in Canada

Well we have a team that's called the stealers instead of the thieves

Is that really strange for Canadians?
