Aren't they? Besides the fact that girls sell cookies?

First of all, they are completely separate organizations. From what my sisters have told me, girl scouts is quite different from boy scouts. Their "troop"(or whatever the girl scout equivalent is) hardly ever went camping or hiking. They mostly did crafts, sold cookies, and learned about citizenship.Boy scouts is more focused on camping, hiking, first aid, knots, leave no trace and things like that. My sister said she would have loved scouts if they were doing what we were in boy scouts.

Personally, I would rather be learning cool stuff, like surviving in the wilderness, than selling cookies. I tried getting involved with a junior Girl Scout troop (Juliettes? I don't remember what the level was called) but I dropped out after about 5 months. All we did in those 5 months was make caramel apples, go to see a movie, and plan a camping trip that never actually happened. Fail.

I had a pretty good GS experience actually. My leader was a feminist. So, she thought we should be doing exactly what the boy scouts were doing. We only sold cookies for our funding, and we all knew that was the only reason. We had mostly back yard camping because not all the mothers approved of it. But, she even got us make shift water spigots and everything, so we didn't have to go inside.
