+273 It's weird that we've assigned certain types of food to each meal. Why should they be different? Why should we eat things like donuts and bagels; waffles, pancakes, and French toast; eggs, sausage and bacon for breakfast? Simple things like sandwiches for lunch? More complex, time-consuming meals for dinner? amirite?

I have sandwiches for dinner.

You know what I mean! :(

Don't hold me to this, but I think it has to do with health sciences. The way your body processes different foods and whatnot to give you a proper energy balance.

Wait! I think I know. Carbohydrates for breakfast give you more energy to start your day. Simple foods for lunch to move you along and high protien meals for dinner to heal your muscles and all that good stuff.

Waffles are strictly a dinner food.

Chicken and waffles with gravy = <3

Ew.

You can't say that until you try it. (by the way, the waffles aren't sweet)

I... Don't eat chickens.

Well...then just take my word for it. It's good.

It's our culture. It's not like that everywhere in the world!

I know that eating large meals at night makes sense because in paleolithic times, men would hunt during the day and then cook at night (fire scares away dangerous predators and provides light when the sun falls). Large meals also increase melatonin production, which improves sleep quality. I'm not sure what makes breakfast food breakfast food but I know that it varies culturally. In some countries, breakfast looks an awful lot like lunch and/or dinner. It may just be a marketing phenomenon. Companies like Kellogg's and Starbucks work hard to market images of what breakfast should look like. Also, chickens tend to lay their eggs in the morning so that may be why eggs have a tradition of being eaten for breakfast. Lunch might be simple just because people tend to have the least amount of time to prepare/eat it.

Well if you look at breakfast foods, they're mostly high calorie foods which help you walk up and focus during the day. The best thing to do is eat a big breakfast, smaller lunch and even smaller dinner. The reason for the smaller dinner is because you won't be burning as many calories after dinner as you would after breakfast.

I rarely ever find "breakfast" food appetizing in the morning. My favorite thing to eat for breakfast is pasta. I'll cook it the night before just so I can have it for breakfast in the morning. Other foods... just don't appeal to me.
