+452 The middle finger used to mean something! The finger meant somebody meant buisness and shit was gonna go down. Now it seems mostly reserved for the mirrors of 14 year old girls on Facebook to show how 'tough and edgy' they are, amirite?

The finger originated way back when bows were used in war... I forget which country did this but if they took someone prisoner they'd hack off the middle and ring fingers of the right hand (the ones used to draw the bow back). Sticking the two fingers up at someone, therefore, was a way of taunting them- it kind of said "HAAAHAAA I'M UNSTOPPABLE, BITCHES. FUCK YOUUU" Later on, it ended up evolving into just the middle finger for some reason or another. Yay, history lesson d:
