+272 It's kind of funny how, in 'Snow White' the most beautiful girl was described as having "skin as white as snow, hair black as ebony, and lips as red as a rose", while now a days a lot of girls are way too tan, hair platinum blonde, and funny colored lipgloss, amirite?

Why is that sad? Styles change.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sad? No one said it was sad.

Of course. Girls all have to look like a girl described in an old fairy tale. Beauty can't come in any other form.

Actually, as far as hair color goes, I'm pretty sure that Snow White is unique in that regard. Most fairy tail heroines have blonde hair. Just throwing that out there.

lol tale. It's late. I'm sleepy.

Maybe in the Disney depiction, but I'm almost positive that they don't match up with the original tales. Postscript, also: Pocahontas, Mulan, Ariel, Jasmine

Disney depiction? The majority of Disney princesses are brunettes. Only two of the Disney girls have blonde hair, not counting Cinderella (who has really red hair in the actual movie) and Rapunzel has brown hair by the end of the movie. In most European fairy tales, the female leads had blonde hair. Even Beauty from Beauty and the Beast was portrayed as a blonde in many versions of the story, prior to the 90s, of course =)

Yeah, what Gi _Go said. Most of the original stories equated having fair hair with beauty. Also, being beautiful meant you were "good" and being ugly or misshapen meant you were "evil." Snow white was unique in that regard as well, since the evil queen was beautiful. That's off topic, but I'm just throwing that out there as well because I find it interesting.

This is fucking stupid. That's all the input I have to give.

I have skin as white as snow! I am very pasty..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah that's just the description of the most beautiful girl... she wasn't beautiful because of those features. Those features were found on the most beautiful girl. Those are two completely separate things buddy. Also what, "Styles change" said, had it been the former instead of the latter.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I idea behind having "beautiful black hair" is that black hair is very glossy (in most races) and also by contrast it made your skin look "fairer".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That was what was beautiful back then, as above said, styles change.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah but most people tan far too much...and platinum blonde hair is not for everyone. Beauty comes from within. If you have pasty skin and you are proud of and can work with that, then to me that is beauty. Not the people trying to look like something they're not supposed to be.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree with you, but if someone believes having platinum hair is beautiful, then it's beautiful. If they're proud of it, like you say, then who are we to judge?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Good point.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yea, cause only pale girls with red lips and black hair are beautiful. -_-
