I find peppermint to be sour, i'm not exactly sure you mean variations (SP?) of mint though.

I'm deadly allergic so I wouldn't know what it tastes like.. but I was under the assumption "minty" was a category in itself. I've heard of other items being described as minty in taste.

It's usually sweet and mildly spicy, but at the same time anti-spicy (It makes liquids/air feel cold in your mouth)
