+153 Ignorance is NOT bliss, knowledge is power, learn something, amirite?

One may prefer knowledge to ignorance, but ignorance is indeed bliss. Sometimes, I really would rather just not know the horrors of the outside world. The horrors of my own country, even. I am sickened that people have forced their way into power over us and then create laws, even ones that outright flout older, better laws, to steal every bit of money from us that they can, and then turn around and give themselves pay raises and use it to fund a war that neither we nor the people of the country we are occupying want. It disgusts me that they say this land is free, yet they still allow basic human rights to be put up for vote. I am horrified at the knowledge that change will not come until those in power give the middle and lower class no option than to force change or be destroyed. Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I was ignorant to all of this.

ignorant people will go through life accepting everything around them and die happy. Wise people question everything and die wondering if there was more to life.

Knowledge of one's ignorance can be a powerful bliss.

But power isn't the opposite of bliss, so why can't both be true?

The more you know. *rainbow*

Ignorance can be bliss. Sometimes not knowing things makes you happier than knowing. For example, your boyfriend/girlfriend cheats on you and you don't know. While he/she still cheated on you, you're going to be normal and happy with them because you don't know but once you find out you're miserable.
