No teachers should discuss their religious beliefs in class, especially science teachers. Amirite?

"Especially science teachers." I know your religious preference.

Just for the sake of not pissing people off.

I love discussing religion in class. I think it's fine as long as they don't show preference to any certain faith.

"Especially sceince teachers"...you know, it's not all black and white - just because you believe in a religion doesn't mean you don't believe in science, and vice versa. It's not one or the other. Now I understand a lot of stupid Christians are like "yeah that science stuff is just liberal bs"...but not all Christians are super hardcore close-minded idiots.

It's perfectly fine until they start trying to teach their faith or gives students who aren't of their faith lower grades simply because of what that student believes. Some people act as though separation of church and state means that Christianity can't even be mentioned in a public place such as a school.

I for one have never heard of that happening.

Are you serious? Teachers have gotten fired just for wearing crucifixes visibly
by Anonymous12 years ago
The former, not the latter.

No I was Asking and then telling you that that has happened

I've had a physics teacher show us a Glenn Beck special on global warming. Sounds good. He's a science teacher who denies global warming and prefers to listen to idiots, rather than scientists.

*in public school* and, yes, religious beliefs of teachers should not be introduced if it in any way alters the class negatively.

The first amendment includes that of freedom of speech. It was placed first for a reason and any restrictions on it should be taken very seriously. Just because someone might be offended by a teacher talking about religion doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to.

My science teacher mentioned it a couple times because he's Catholic but believes in evolution.
