Feminists are annoying. Amirite?

Feminists, as a whole, are not annoying, but unfortunately, like there is in every group, there is a really loud minority that seems to be going about accomplishing their goals in the wrong way.

right! that's the kind of comment I can get behind...but I say YYA because of those people. That's hypocritical of me, but in my mind, the one's who aren't like that don't call themselves feminists. Most of the women I know perceive feminists as just female versions of chauvenists, rather than as champions for women's rights.

Wow. The fact that so many young women NW'd this is... unsettling. In a world where women are being denied control of their own bodies, do you seriously view the people fighting for them to be dealt with as their own as 'annoying'? That is so disturbing to me. I'm a feminist, and I'm proud to say that I am.

I didn't mean extremism as in thinking outside the norm; I meant it as being way too into something, like an obsession. I get feminists from times when women were discriminated upon, but seriously come on, times have changed. Sure men have some advantages, but so do women so quit bitching.

The part that bothers me about some women who are fighting for equality is that a good amount of them also think that a man should hold a door open for a woman on a date or that men should pay for things to be chivalrous, which is not equality. A lot of women want both, which is hypocritical and annoying

Well you gave no indication that you meant anything else, feminists in the 60s fought for many rights we take for granted today and you're saying they were annoying. What did you mean then?

Im very thankful for my equality. it's annoying that it's all I learned about for 6 weeks. What about the environmental movement? Or the native American movement?

Well then you should have said "i'm learning about it in my 60's class.. learning about it is annoying." or something like that. You said that "they" are annoying, meaning feminists, and you voted YYA, so people are obviously going to assume that's what you meant. And I don't know why your class was structured to learn about it for 6 weeks, but probably because it had a huge impact on modern society.

What you're thinking of are STRAW FEMINISTS. You know, the lesbians they show on TV that chop up men's testicles and want the male race to crumble? I have a secret. Those people aren't actually feminists. They are concepts constructed by males in order to oppress women even more than they already are. FEMINISTS are women who want equal rights. That is all. There are millions of misconceptions about feminists, but in reality, they are women who want equal rights in a male-dominated society.
