They're magic. I'm sure they could conjure up a giant floating TV screen, with waterproof cameras to film the contestants in the second challenge. The third challenge would've been similar, except without the waterproof. Crisis averted!

except they didn't do that, or they would have known about the cup taking harry and cedric somewhere else. and dumbledore only found out about harry trying to save the others in the lake by speaking to the king of the mer-people.

I think about that everytime I read the book or watch the movie. Those people sat in the stands for over an hour in the second task. Probably much longer for the third task. I might've just left by that time. Get some of the homework done that they never seem to do :)
