-54 I dont understand the complaining, Kony 2012 is better than most of the fads out nowadays, amirite?

The problem is that everyone "cared" but nothing was really done. Because it was a fad, everyone rallied around sharing the fact that this man is taking children but doing so ignores the fact that it's been done for decades and no one wanted to do anything because it wasn't brought to their attention. Even now, I haven't seen anything about him on Facebook in at least a week. "it's so terrible! Make Kony famous!" (which is a terrible choice of words) but the next day is just a bunch of the same old nonsense "zomg, I'm going to eat curly fries!! <3"

Not to mention that nobody even took the effort to 1) look further into the cause so they could take the steps to donate, 2) look further into it to make sure it was a legitimate cause... everybody just saw a video with great editing and some inspiring music and narration and said, "looks worthy enough to me!", 3) give it some time to see how things pan out. The guy who created it was recently arrested for masturbating in public or some shit. He now has zero credibility. The only thing the video was correct about was that thanks to things like Facebook and YouTube, we can spread ideas within a matter of minutes. This allows us to bring attention to people about important things. The downfall to this is that it means more information and idea spreading. More information doesn't sound like a bad thing, but with so much information coming all at once, people prioritize what information they want to give their attention. A lot of information, both important and irrelevant, gets lost in the ever growing news feeds while some information (like Kony) might last a week at the most and it too will become lost.

I just ignored the whole situation until it blew over. Thankfully, it only last about an hour and then everyone moved on. I did, however, come up with my own campaign: http://ctrlv.in/73125

http://bit.ly/GHSDjT His family claims he had a mental breakdown due to "extreme exhaustion, malnourishment, and dehydration". I call bullshit. Either way, that video made my week.

The "fad" died out in about 60 hours. Fucking high-heel flip flops lasted longer than that.

The Kony 2012 fad was nothing more than a cheap way for people to feel better about themselves by thinking they made a difference without actually doing anything. People thought that they would look sympathetic and "cool" if they shared the video. The whole concept is completely ridiculous. I hate to break it to everyone who shared the "Make Kony Famous" video, but your share didn't save a single child's life.
