+131 You wonder if the moderators on here have some kind of competition to see who homepages the most successful posts, where whoever wins gets a gold star and a pat on the back while whoever loses gets savagely beaten with a ping-pong paddle, amirite?

Most likely

Rule 34.

How do they even become moderators in the first place?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They're chosen at complete random, but only the good ones last.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Really? I thought Anthony would ask them.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Thats exactly what I assumed. Like the "famous" amiriters would be the first ones he'd go to since they're frequent users.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yea, I can see that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

*I can see that happening. I don't know how I made that typo.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No you have to take a test and usually they all frequent chat to get to know the rest of the mods sorry that my bullshitting you 5 months ago caused confusion

I remember looking through the help part of Amirite after posting the first comment and it said you have to fill out some form & submit it in to become a moderator. I don't remember seeing anything about a test.

@Iceeselenawiz: I tried googling it, and I got a 404 screen on an amirite moderator page(I'm on mobile so that may be the issue). I messaged ActionMan and he explained to me that he filled out a moderator application(http://amirite.net/moderators) & was on chat a lot to get to know the other moderators.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh, I see. And I'm on the mobile site as well.

I took a look at the form, and there were questions like, "What would make you a good moderator?" and "Have you ever reported posts?". I scrolled down and saw some posts from the Just In page. The person filling out the form is supposed to say if any of these posts should be deleted, and why.

Interesting... I like their way of setting the process up. It's cool(:
