It's stupid to say an opinion can't be the majority opinion because you can't test the opinion of everyone. If you take a group of randomly selected people, and hundreds of them say one thing while few say the other, it can be safely assumed the ratio would remain near the same no matter the number of people involved in the study, amirite?

Yes BUT you have to make sure it truly is random. For example the opinion of 1,500 people from Alabama will probably be much different than from 1,500 people from California.
