Proof that 'common sense' is a myth. 1. You have never touched anything, you've just been repelled by it. If you were to somehow overcome the repulsion you'd actually go through the object like a ghost. 2. There's no such thing as a straight line. 3. Space cannot be mapped on paper. 4. There's not a single atom in your body that was there when you were a baby. 5. Many of the stars you see at night went supernova millions of years ago. Science is awesome, amirite?
There's no such thing as a straight line? Explain? (or do you mean in that lines are infinite?)
all particles are curved, and everything is made of particles. You can't make a line out of curves.
Woah, that's cool. Thanks!
But in theory, there is such a thing. It's the shortest path from one point to another.
Ok there are no straight lines accurately represented.
Number one doesn't make any sense. Touching is a concept created by humans to define the act of what you call "being repelled".
Also, 4 and 5 ARE common sense.
True but there is no actual surface contact, which is implied and generally believed. I'm pretty sure 4 and 5 are counter to childhood thoughts about the world. 4 is stating that atom for atom, you are literally not the same person you were. 5 is counter to the 'seeing is believing' common sense argument.
