Wanting someone to ask isn't the same as wanting them to beg. For example, I can go ahead and assume that all my friends would like some money (because who wouldn't?), but I'm not going to just suddenly give my friends my savings. But if a friend were to come up to me and ask, "Hey, could I have five bucks?" or "Could I borrow 10 bucks?" etc., I'd probably comply. But that isn't the same at all as me replying, "Get down onto the ground and grovel."
