Hi Ethan.

I have been addicted to sniffing male cat urine for eight years now. It's consuming my life, and I have to stop.

Are you totally cheesing out every night?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes. The city put a ban on cats, but I keep em stashed in my attic. I can't stop. This... This might sound weird, but I go to a strange planet with a big boobed lady. Its great, and I can't stop.

God dammit. You can't be addicted to something that is non addictive. We all use forks right? Does that mean we're addicted to forks? NO. Addiction as a word is being spread around way too much as it is, it's becoming as bad as bullying

Look at Mr. Anger Pants over here. I think you're forgetting that there's two different types of addiction: physical and emotional. Physical addiction comes from 'substances', like coke or heroin. Emotional addiction can come from anything. You can be emotionally addicted to video games or the internet. And an addiction usually involves something someone //likes// doing. Sure everyone uses forks, but I don't think there's very many people who 'enjoy' it, so that was a bad example.

So playing a sport is considered an addiction? No. It is an activity. An addiction is something that you are enslaved to do by yourself, because you have no control over it. SOME people are addicted to the internet, sure. But to be unable to force yourself not to play a sport, or read a book is almost impossible. The term addiction is being overused. Kind of like love. That word means very little now as opposed to fifty years ago. Almost everyone who is "addicted" to the internet or to running or to shopping can go at least a day without using it if they are forced. Sure, they get bored as hell but it doesn't pain them. Someone who is addicted to coke or cigarettes cannot go a day without them unless they are physically forced.

Playing a sport isn't necessarily an addiction, but one could be addicted to a sport. "But to be unable to force yourself not to play a sport, or read a book is **//almost//** impossible." Thanks for proving my point. It's not as common, but it's possible. I agree, 'addiction' is overused, just like people saying they're OCD, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There are plenty of people with emotional addictions where they **need** to do a particular activity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ_KfYtvU-k

It's annoying how teenagers all seem to think that addiction is some trendy, fun little character quirk that we all have and it's what makes us special. If you met a recovering heroin addict and asked them about their experiences with heroin, would you reply "Oh yeah, I'm the same with my tumblr."?

We can live without all of the things you just named. :P
