No. I can't blame her. How is that her fault, at all? These posts are starting to tick me off. Nobody can blame her. Just because she was wearing some clothes? Nope.
It is NEVER the woman's fault if she's raped. Regardless of the situation. A female should be able to do whatever she damn well pleases wherever she wants and not get raped for it.
Yeah, I agree. I also think I should be able to do what I damn well want without getting killed for it, but if I went to a bad neighbourhood and acted like a dick, I can't say I wouldn't expect some thug to beat me up and kill me.
Well, you obviously don't agree, seeing as you made this post...
I agree that a female SHOULD be able to do what she damn well pleases. That i a perfectly reasonable request. Unfortunately, there exist psychos who get so fucking aroused by the short skirt, so encouraged by the lack of witnesses, that they can't control themselves and rape the girl.
Every person on Earth, unless trying to prove a point, would put their money on a girl doing everything in the post getting raped, if they had to make a choice and not betting was not an option.
Let's say there's this bungee rope company. 90% of their ropes break when the load is more than 70kg, and may melt slightly on very hot days. Your mass is 60kg. Is is not, at least slightly your fault, if you take one of these ropes, with no safety rope, wait for the hottest summer day you've ever seen, and jump off a bridge wearing 20kg weights (making your mass 80kg).
You has full knowledge that what you were doing was unnecessary, incredibly risky, stated clearly on the safety information, and yet you want to sue the bungee rope company for paralysing you, taking absolutely NO blame yourself?
Guys can control their urges. Psychos cannot. The least you can do is not give them the opportunity
It's not as simple as the bungee cord analogy. If the rapist gets off scot-free, it heightens the chances of another occurrence. Yes, it's not quite a smart idea to walk around a sketchy area wearing skimpy clothing, but those things define a person.
A woman wearing revealing clothes who is raped deserves as much blame as a heavily-dressed woman: none.
Just because more skin is showing doesn't mean the rapist is any less responsible.
Often, rape is a psychological thing. Those "urges" aren't solely because of the woman's outfit. It won't give him the urge to dominate. The woman's personality will.
Men can go almost anywhere, wearing whatever they please, with virtually no fear of being sexually assaulted.
I can't do the same because my shirt was too low?
Not that you are worth any less, but what kind of person is defined solely by the clothes they wear?
She deserves no blame for getting raped. She deserves a little blame for not seeing it coming.
Rapists should all be punished equally severely for the degree of damage they caused.
Revealing clothes may incite a latent urge that may not have surfaced otherwise. The rapist is always solely responsible, but more likely to rape someone with revealing clothes than in a long, loose dress.
Rapists don't look at personality, or even looks so much. I've read about really ugly women getting raped.
Men can go anywhere because the vast majority of rapists are not gay or women, and men have a larger libido than most women, and are more susceptible to progressing to the psycho level.
You should be able to, but that will only happen after crazy people disappear.
Neither can I. But if the dresses like that and goes to a bad neighbourhood alone at night, she should know that she's taunting and greatly increasing chances of being raped. Only in this combination is it serious and stupid enough, and she must accept some blame.
No shit it's not. But seriously, if you know a lot of people get raped in a certain area, it's just stupid to go there, alone, at night, and wearing that dress. YOu know people (at least one) there are psycho, and you go and do that? You don't deserve it, but come on.
That's a very specific situation. But women get raped when they are wearing burquas. How is that asking for it? Maybe we should just get rid of vaginas altogether because that seems like the biggest incentive for rape.
K. I'm not saying that how it should be, and people should be fine with it, I'm just saying that's how it is, and everyone knows it. So until it's fixed, stay in more or less crime-free places unless you think you can defend yourself.
It's not their fault. It is a small part their fault for doing a combination of things simultaneously . I can guarantee you that 90% of girls who did exactly what I described got raped. You should even go into a bad neighbourhood at night, or at all if you can avoid it. If you go alone, you'll probably get killed. if you're a girl, you'll probably get raped and/or killed. You have to admit that it is pretty stupid to dress like that in the given scenario. AND ONLY IN THE GIVEN SCENARIO.
I never said they're asking for it, I never said that rape only occurs in the above situation. The blame is solely on the rapist if you're wearing normal clothes, especially a burqua. If you're abnormally skimpily dressed, etc etc, you can't say you're totally innocent and have no idea why the guy would do that.
tl;dr That's not the same as asking for it, it's just exponentially increasing the chances.
'i mean come on'. Men should learn self control. It's fashion. Women don't wake up and think hmmm I wonder what the best thing to wear to get me raped would be. When i put on clothes we are considering what i like. Not what will get the most attention. No matter what someone wears they still deserve to be asked if that's what they want. Because they're still a person no matter how they present themselves. Like when someone takes a shower they're not like hmm I wanna be forced to have sex with somebody better get naked.
Fuck, why don't people read the rest of the post? It's only reasonable to put some blame on them if they also go to a bad neighbourhood alone at night. That was an AND not an OR, showing that ALL factors are prerequisites for blame. Men have self-control. Rapists have serious mental problems. Only by punishment of imprisonment do their brains understand that it's not worth it, though many just go and do it again.
Its still wrong to blame her. Sorry dude anyway you spin it: 'it's women's fault they get raped for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and wearing the wrong thing.' is what people are going to get from it.
