+221 It's kind of sad when NASCAR drivers crash. It means that they somehow managed to mess up driving in a circle, amirite?

They drive what is essentially a normal street car, modified to go faster and give them a chance of living if they crash. These cars can go 200 miles per hour. The average speed of a Stock Car is fast enough that if the car had wings it would be able to fly. The drivers drive these cars for as many as 600 miles, all while other drivers are passing them within inches. Have you ever been driving on the highway and had a car pass ever a foot away from you? It can be terrifying. Now triple the speed you're driving, shorten the distance of the other car to 3 inches, remember that you're driving pretty much a normal car and, at 200 Mph, it's vibrating all over the road. Do that for 600 miles and tell me it's not one of the most difficult sports ever.

NOT YOU. John Smith and his unnecessarily long rant. Did I mention that it was unnecessary?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh no I dont think you did.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't think it was unnecessarily long. People trivialize the sport of NASCAR because "Hey, I drive a car all the time!" but really it's one of the most nerve-racking and dangerous televised sports on the planet. Lots of people have died while racing and it's horrible that the average person thinks that NASCAR is "just driving in a circle." It's like saying laughing at how soldiers die in combat because you're pretty good at paintball.

dude, first off don't compare nascar to combat. They really aren't on the same leve. Yes NASCAR is a hard sport, but it's definetly not the most dangerous by a long shot. Watch moto gp, that is dangerous (i prefer it to NASCAR personaly). i didn't mean the post to slam NASCAR, it was honestly just a joke. Chill out man

I think my comments are coming off as way more hostile than I intend them to be.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

it's all good man, i think mine do to. truce?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sure, truce. I think people interpret comments from people who NW'd a post as more hostile because they're circled in red, but I'm pretty sure that opinion has been voiced before.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

yeah, the red box around the comment doesn't really help much. you could have said "i agree 100%" and i still would have taken it as harsh caus of the box
