Why would you try? I mean, if you don't like something, you don't like it. Sure, expanding upon your interests is good, but if you hate, say, country music, forcing yourself to listen to it in an attempt to like it isn't going to help anything.

I'd say to be better rounded. I wouldn't comment at all, but I used to hate country music. But upon going back and figuring out why people enjoy it, I discovered some of my favorite songs. I'm very glad I tried, and succeeded, especially in this case

i don't try to push myself into a new genre, if i hear something i like, i gradually start listening to more and more of it. it just feels natural. i don't really try to get into a new genre, it just kind of happens
