By definition, dissolve implies no increase in volume. Liquids would be mixing. Only solids becoming liquids without melting is dissolving.

Oh. That's kind of the point. It's just a waste of water to pour it into a glass already filled with water. My point is that you can dissolve sugar or flavour crystals in it for example and increase its value.
